What are the ongoing maintenance costs to run my website?

​There are two main ongoing costs to keep your website live on the Internet:
 
Hosting: Every website on the Internet needs to be ‘hosted’ on a server somewhere. It’s like paying a monthly "rent” for your website to “live” on the Internet. Without it, your website would not exist. WebSkinz charges an industry related monthly website hosting and management fee.
Domain Name Renewal:Each year, your domain name (e.g. www.mybusiness.com) will require renewal. If we purchased this on your behalf, we will simply renew it for you at cost each year (approximately R200 for 12 months) as part of our ongoing website development service.

Can I use a different hosting company?

Accepted Answer

No. You can not seperate the site from the hosting. Your site and all of its content is hosted exclusively on our associates servers, and cannot be transferred elsewhere.
 
Also host servers are connected with the Content Management System (CMS,) so we cannot separate the hosting from the platform.

Is there a contract or minimum period with your monthly hosting?

Accepted Answer

Never. There are no contracts with our web design service or our ongoing monthly fees so you can cancel your website anytime on 1 months calander notice.

Question 4

Who owns the website after it's created?

Accepted Answer

​You do. We will simply manage your domain name renewal (if applicable) and hosting for the life of the website. Our service is made to save you time and remove any hassles.

Question 5

Can I make changes to my website after it's published?  How much does it cost to make changes?

Accepted Answer

Of course you can! Changes will be quoted on a case by case basis.
 
As a rule of thumb, all small textual changes are FREE.
Structual and content changes start at R200 per change.

How long will it take for my website to go live?

Accepted Answer

It all depends on the package you select and the time it takes to send us the information you want listed on the site.
 
For our SME package, your site can be live within 24-72 hours.
 
For Custom builts we can have your draft website ready within 15 business days. Any delays to this will depend on how quickly you can send us your initial information and the time it takes you to review your website.  Once you have approved your website, we will publish your website to go live and it will be publicly viewable on your domain name.

Please note that your website will not come up in the search results just yet, because Google takes between 4 days to 4 weeks to discover a new website for ranking purposes. This is a very normal process, so just need to keep an eye on it until you see it show up.    ​

Do you offer ecommerce websites?

Accepted Answer

We offer a limited eCommerce service up to 10 products. If you require extensive e-Commerce configurations or have many products, we encourage you to speak to other web designers who specialise in higher volume retail websites. If you're unsure, please contact us today and we can let you know. WebSkinz is a web designer most suited to businesses not looking for an eCommerce solution; our website development process offers limited eCommerce scope at present.

Accepted Answer

Yes we can, as part of our web design service. Keep your domain name and when your new website is up and running with us, you simply cancel your old hosting. Contact us today so we can help you re-launch your website with our signature website development service. ​

I already have a domain name, can I use this for my website?"

Accepted Answer

Yes, this is no problem at all. We will assist you in ensuring your domain settings point to your new website for free as part of our web design service.

What is search engine optimisation (seo)?

Search engine optimisation (SEO) is the process of ranking your website to show up on Google results for various keyword searches related to your business.
 
It is the process of helping your website get found online and ranked by the search engines when someone searches for a keyword related to your business. The aim is to get traffic to your website, from search engines, without paying for advertising. The higher your website appears on a search results page (known as a “SERP”), the more visitors it is likely to get and therefore the greater likelihood of generating a new lead for your business.

This process is known as ‘organic’, ‘natural’, or ‘unpaid’ search marketing (as opposed to paid search eg Google Adwords).

Search Engines are used every day by millions of people to look for information online. The most commonly used search engine is Google, followed by Yahoo, Bing and a few others.

We are not SEO consultants and do not guarantee first page Google results with our web design service, however we do provide all of the on-page SEO which includes optimising the meta data and content, based on a comprehensive keyword analysis of your business and region. What does WebSkinz do when it comes to SEO?
 
Your website should be written or labelled in a way that search engines can understand and is made up of many elements, including the content and images on the page and the code behind it – all of which search engines consider.  There are two parts to SEO for a website, on-page SEO and off-page SEO. We undertake all of the on-page SEO when creating your website.  To distinguish these two methods: 
 
On-Page SEO - We conduct a Google Keyword analysis to identify the most relevant keywords for your business and region searched on Google.  We select the most appropriate and relevant keywords and use this to optimise your website content website and the meta data with them so you can get found for these keywords.  Meta data relates to the data that sits in the background part of your website pages which Google crawls through to determine your website relevance for a search.  
Off-Page SEO - This involves ongoing, long-term efforts to creating links back to your website and spreading its web presence. This can include a number of things such as an active social media campaign (Facebook, Twitter, Youtube etc), maintaining a high quality blog with regular posts, listing your website link in relevant industry websites and generally creating link networks back to your website.  This is a separate paid service that is often used for competitive keywords and requires ongoing effort.
Google Keyword Analysis
As part of our standard web design service, our team conducts a FREE Google Keyword analysis to identify the most relevant keywords for your business, region and related keywords that are searched for by Google by users.  These words are provided to us from Google keyword data and once we have generated a list of keywords, we select the most relevant keywords that are appropriate for your website and which also have reasonable search-volumes according to Google data. We select keywords that are being searched for, and some of these keywords are competitive, others less so if they are more targeted.  It is still important to use all of the most relevant keywords even if they are competitive as they will still help your website get found through search results, even if not on the first page of Google.

Are there any emails included with my website?

We do not include email accounts within our standard service. If you would like an email address connected to your domain name, we can set one up for you through Google Apps for Business, for a one-off fee of R1,000. There is an ongoing charge of US$5 per month per email address directly payable to Google for the mailbox. ​
 
Please note thereafter Google will be your email administrator and NOT Webskinz.

Will my website be available to all apple and android devices?

Yes, all of our websites are smartphone and tablet-friendly and standard with our website development service. ​

What pictures can I use on my website?

Accepted Answer

​You can use any images you own or have permission to use, we will ask you to send these to WebSkinz during the process. If you do not have any photos, we will source relevant and high quality stock images to bring your website to life.

By installing Google Analytics, which is a Google program that collates and presents all your website visitor statistics including number of visitors, how long they spent on each page, where they are from, keyword searches to your website and plenty more. Google My Business is a Google service which allows you have a Google Places listing (a "pin" on the Google map) to give your business name and map a prominent display on Page 1 of Google when users search your business name.
 
This is complemented with a Google + page that is connected to the listing. If you would like WebSkinz to create this for you, we can do it for a one-off fee of R1,000 and you will need a registered address that we can submit for your business (PO Boxes are not accepted by Google).  ​
